SEA-MaP is working on a range of initiatives to strengthen regional policies and institutions for plastics circularity and developing regional platforms to promote innovation, knowledge and partnerships. Together, these activities support 10 of the 14 priority actions in the ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris for ASEAN Member States.
Supporting the ASEAN Member States to strengthen regulations, policies, and standards. This includes identifying incentives and measures to encourage the private sector to recycle plastics, explore alternatives, and facilitate investments that provide new solutions in the ASEAN region.
These activities support the implementation of Actions 1 to 4, and 13 of the ASEAN RAP.
Developing technical resources to strengthen regional collaboration, knowledge networks, and monitoring and evaluation systems.
These activities support the implementation of Actions 7 and 10 of the ASEAN RAP.
Supporting innovation, financing, and investments in plastics circularity in the ASEAN region. The platform will provide technical assistance to innovators, a financing marketplace to match innovators and investors, as well as communications and outreach activities to facilitate collaborations between various actors across the plastics value chain.
This platform supports the implementation of Action 14 of the ASEAN RAP.
Developing a regional hub for knowledge sharing and dialogue on marine plastics, bringing together various regional and national initiatives and institutions. The platform will foster partnerships among various stakeholders, including governments, think tanks, private sector companies, NGOs, and civil society organizations across the ASEAN region.
This platform supports the implementation of Actions 8,11 and 13 of the ASEAN RAP.
