Abstract

The Regional Guidebook on Phasing Out Single-Use Plastics serves as a decision-support tool and practical reference for policymakers and technical agencies responsible for designing and implementing policies that address Single-Use Plastics (SUPs). It offers a structured, interactive, and modular layout, allowing readers to focus on sections most relevant to their policy needs, and navigate policy options through different entry points. Designed with consultation of multiple stakeholders and analysis of case studies around the ASEAN region, this Guidebook’s primary purpose is to provide a practical, regionally aligned framework for designing, adapting, and implementing effective, evidence-based measures to phase out SUPs.

The Guidebook development was supported by cyclos GmbH and Lasaju Consulting Sdn Bhd, through the Regional Implementation Support Unit (RISU) under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), with technical support from the World Bank and input provided by ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat.
