Abstract

The widespread use of plastic as a packaging material comes with its own challenges to reuse and recycle. Addressing these challenges requires a shared understanding among actors along the plastic supply chain and the broader stakeholders. The Best Practice Manual for the Development of Minimum Standards and Technical Requirements for Plastic Packaging and Labeling seeks to provide a common reference for discussing standards in the plastic packaging sector and guidance to policymakers, standardization bodies, producers’ association, and other stakeholders. It also contains relevant regional and international case studies, as well as recommended best practices to drive sustainable packaging solutions.

The Manual development was supported by Fratini-Vergano and adelphi, through the Regional Implementation Support Unit (RISU) under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), with technical support from the World Bank and input provided by ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat.
