ASEAN convenes the 7th PSC Meeting of SEA-MaP to Review Project Progress
Video Conference, 9 June 2026: The 7th Meeting of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) of the Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics (SEA-MaP) was held via video conference, hosted by Myanmar. It was attended by PSC members from ASEAN Member States (AMS), the ASEAN Secretariat, the SEA-MaP Project Management Unit (PMU), and the Regional Implementation Support Unit (RISU), housed under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the World Bank as an observer.
SEA-MaP Advances Development of ASEAN EPR Handbook and Toolkit through Government Consultation
Jakarta, Indonesia, 18 June 2026 – The Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics (SEA-MaP) convened the Government Consultation for Development of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Handbook and Customized Toolkit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
First Consultation Held to Discuss Development of the Synthesis Document and Implementation Roadmap for Key Recommendations by the SEA-MaP Project
Videoconference, 30 April 2026: the SEA-MaP Regional Project organized the First Stakeholder Consultation for Development of the Synthesis Document and Implementation Roadmap for Key Recommendations by the SEA-MaP. In particular, the session focused on presenting key findings, seeking feedback, and validating findings of the draft Landscape Analysis and Risk Assessment (LAR).
SEA-MaP Convened Second High-Level Policy Dialogue and Workshop Series on Phasing Out Single-Use Plastic
Bali, Indonesia, 1–2 July 2026 – The Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics (SEA-MaP) convened the Regional Event: Introduction of the Regional Platform for Knowledge and Partnerships, and Second High Level Policy Dialogue and Workshop Series, bringing together representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS), the ASEAN Secretariat, alongside regional knowledge partners and other stakeholders, in a hybrid format.
3rd PSC Engagement Workshop Discusses the Progress and Sustainability Consideration of the Regional Platform for Innovation and Investments
Tangerang, Indonesia, 23 June 2026: The SEA-MaP Regional Project convened the 3rd Project Steering Committee (PSC) Engagement Workshop, themed “Consultation on the Progress and Sustainability Consideration of the Regional Platform for Innovation and Investments (IIP),” bringing together representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and the ASEAN Secretariat to review progress of the IIP and exchange views on sustainability considerations.
SEA-MaP Innovation Expo III Showcases Innovations and Partnerships for Plastic Circularity
Tangerang, Indonesia, 22-25 June 2026 – The SEA-MaP Innovation Expo III was convened at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), bringing together start-ups, corporates, investors, government representatives, and development partners to advance innovation and collaboration in plastic circularity across ASEAN.
Held from 22 to 25 June 2026 alongside the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026, the Expo focused on the theme “Scaling Demand-Driven Innovations for Plastic Circularity in ASEAN.” It builds on previous iterations of the Innovation Expo held in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok in 2025, with a stronger focus on enabling market uptake, strengthening and supporting partnerships continuity.

Government Consultation: Developing the Regional Guidebook on Responsible Plastic Waste Trade
Manila, Philippines, 10–11 March 2026 — The Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics (SEA-MaP) convened the Government Consultation on Plastic Waste Trade on 10-11 March 2026 in Manila, Philippines, in a hybrid format, bringing together government representatives from ten ASEAN Member States (AMS), the ASEAN Secretariat, and the World Bank as an observer.
Second Stakeholder Consultation Advances ASEAN Marine Plastics Resource Mobilization Strategy
Video Conference, 21 April 2026: The SEA-MaP Regional Project organized the Second Stakeholder Consultation for the development of the Marine Plastics Resource Mobilization Strategy (RMS) via video conference. The consultation forms part of SEA-MaP’s support to the implementation of the ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (2021–2025), particularly under the Planning Phase: Enabling Conditions.
