JANUARY 2024
The SEA-MaP Regional Project is proud to be supporting the ASEAN in implementing the ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (ASEAN RAP). The Project will be establishing a Regional Platform to support innovation, financing and investments in plastic circularity, aligned with Action 14 of the ASEAN RAP to “Establish a Regional Platform to Support Innovation and Investments in Plastics and Plastic Waste Management”.
As part of the Platform design process, the SEA-MaP Regional Project supported the convening of two consultation workshops on 2 November 2023 and 10 January 2024 as part of the data gathering and validation process. The workshops were held virtually and attended by key stakeholders engaged in marine plastics across the ASEAN region with a focus on inventors, ventures, and key ecosystem players in plastics circularity.
The workshops were organized as part of the stocktaking and gap analysis study conducted by SecondMuse, an impact and innovation company and the World Bank with the support of the SEA-MaP Project Management Unit (PMU) and the Implementation Support Unit (RISU) within UNOPS.
