SEA-MaP convenes stakeholder consultation workshops for the Regional Platform for Innovation and Investments
JANUARY 2024
The SEA-MaP Regional Project is proud to be supporting the ASEAN in implementing the ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris in the ASEAN Member States (ASEAN RAP). The Project will be establishing a Regional Platform to support innovation, financing and investments in plastic circularity, aligned with Action 14 of the ASEAN RAP to “Establish a Regional Platform to Support Innovation and Investments in Plastics and Plastic Waste Management”.
As part of the Platform design process, the SEA-MaP Regional Project supported the convening of two consultation workshops on 2 November 2023 and 10 January 2024 as part of the data gathering and validation process. The workshops were held virtually and attended by key stakeholders engaged in marine plastics across the ASEAN region with a focus on inventors, ventures, and key ecosystem players in plastics circularity.
The workshops were supported by the SEA-MaP Project Management Unit (PMU) and the Implementation Support Unit (RISU) within UNOPS, and the World Bank, in collaboration with SecondMuse, an impact and innovation company that is supporting SEA-MaP on the stocktaking study and gap analysis for this activity.
