Tangerang, Indonesia, 23 June 2026: The SEA-MaP Regional Project convened the 3rd Project Steering Committee (PSC) Engagement Workshop, themed “Consultation on the Progress and Sustainability Consideration of the Regional Platform for Innovation and Investments (IIP),” bringing together representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and the ASEAN Secretariat to review progress of the IIP and exchange views on sustainability considerations.  

The Workshop commenced with the opening remarks by Ms. Veronica Katrine Situmorang, Associate Environmental Impact Controller, Ministry of Environment of Indonesia (MoE), in her capacity as the representative of the host country Indonesia on behalf of Mr. Sayid Muhadhar, Director of Coastal and Marine Pollution and Degradation Control, MoE Indonesia; and Ms. Alita Sangalang, Senior Ecosystems Management Specialist, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of the Philippines, on behalf of the Chair of the ASEAN Working Group on Coastal and Marine Environment (AWGCME) and Co-Chair of the SEA-MaP PSC, Mr. (Atty.) Felix S. Alicer, Director of the Biodiversity Management Bureau.  

The remarks highlighted that the Workshop provided an important opportunity for PSC members to review progress of the IIP and provide strategic guidance on the sustainability considerations as the current IIP workstream approaches completion. They noted that feedback from the PSC would inform the refinement of the proposed Sustainability Plan, while reaffirming that any future direction should continue to be guided by ASEAN processes, consultation, consensus, and regional ownership.  

Throughout the Workshop, participants reviewed and exchanged views on the progress of the IIP, including on the Financing Marketplace, the Accelerator Program, and Communications and Outreach activities, and on sustainability considerations. The discussions provided an opportunity for PSC members to provide strategic guidance on sustainability arrangements, and feedback received during the Workshop will inform the refinement of the draft Sustainability Plan for subsequent consideration through ASEAN processes. 

Held alongside the Third Innovation Expo, the Workshop also enabled participants to engage directly with innovators, Accelerator cohorts, and ecosystem partners through the Innovation Exhibition, Platform Walkthrough, and Networking Dinner.   

The Workshop was organized under the SEA-MaP Regional Project, facilitated by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Consortium engaged for assignment under the Regional Implementation Support Unit (RISU), in coordination with the SEA-MaP Project Management Unit (PMU). The Workshop was attended by representatives from ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Secretariat, and the World Bank.
